The world is full of color and art. When a person asks, “What is Art”, I often explain what art is to me, but it is not that simple. Art makes our lives infinitely richer and if you want to know what art is, it is often easier to imagine the world without it!
Art creates feelings; it could incite one to laugh or to cry, but with an entire spectrum of emotion in between. It will always inspire someone! Some people believe that art is the reason for being, living, and rising each day. We can say that art is something that makes us more thoughtful and well-rounded.
On the other hand, art is such an important and intricate part of our everyday lives that often goes unnoticed without really stopping to think about it.
Where are you at this very moment while reading this? I’ll bet art is all around you from form to function and even within the aesthetics of the devices you use daily. Someone took the time to design it and therefore; you could say art is something that is both part of life and plays a significant role. Art is also very subjective, so it is in the eye of the beholder.
Contemporary art is increasing socially in demand more so than in previous eras of emergent movements. Most of the art during the past 30 years connects to life and the subject matter readily comes to mind in its interpretation. Often people ask me what is contemporary art? Well to me the answer is divinely simple. Contemporary just means “art that has been and continues to be created during our lifetimes”.
